Description
|
Clove is an evergreen tree native to Jamaica, Brazil, the Philippines and other
tropical areas. It grows 15 - 30 feet tall producing huge leaves and clusters of red and white bell
shaped flowers followed by a one or two seeded berry.

Uses/Applications
|
Use Cloves to treat nausea, vomiting, flatulence, and to stimulate the digestive
system. Clove is a powerful local antiseptic that can be
used externally to stop a toothache. Eating cloves is
said to be an aphrodisiac.

Dip a q-tip in clove oil and place on an aching tooth to stop the
toothache.

Collect the flower parts when the color of the lower stalk turns from green to

Externally

Put cloves near the aching tooth and keep in your mouth until the toothache
stops. You may also use clove oil on a cotton ball or
q-tip.

Put Clove leaves in a cup of boiling water. Infuse for 10 minutes. Take three times per day.

Growing Directions
|
Cloves can be grown in a greenhouse or planted in ordinary soil in full or
partial sun. They are very challenging to grow so check
with your local nursery.

History
|
During the Han Dynasty (207 BC - 220 AD) those who addressed the Chinese Emperor
were required to hold Cloves in their mouth to mask bad breath. Cloves arrived in Europe around the 4th Century
AD.

1. Laboratory tests show antioxidant
effects which help prevent cell damage believed to eventually cause
cancer.
2. The chemical Eugenol found in
Cloves has been found to be a weak tumor promoter.
