ICELAND MOSS

Description

Uses/Applications

Use Iceland Moss to treat gastritis, vomiting, dyspepsia, bronchitis, and indigestion.   It is also used for chronic pulmonary problems, and tuberculosis.

Combinations

Combine with Black Horebound.

Constituents

Mucilage, Fumaric Acids, Iodine

Action

Demulcent, Anti-Emetic, Expectorant, Anti-Catarrhal, Pectoral, Tonic, Galactoagogue.

Iodine, traces of Vitamin A, Proteins, Mucilage.

The entire plant.

Collection

The best time to collect Iceland Moss is in late spring through to early fall.

Preparation

Decoction

Put 1 Tsp. of shredded moss in a cup of cold water.   Boil for 3 minutes, then let stand for 10 minutes.   Take a cupful in the morning and in the evening.

 

Tincture

Take 1 - 2 ml. three times per day.

Not cultivated.
