Description

Radish is an annual plant that is widely cultivated. The plant grows 8 - 12 inches, producing rough, partly divided leaves and white to pale purple flowers with protruding violet veins.   Radish will flower at different times depending on how it is cultivated. The fleshy root, known as the radish, is normally some shade of red but the shape various.

Uses/Applications

Juice pressed from grated fresh radish is excellent for coughs, rheumatism, bronchitis, flatulence, diarrhea, headache, and insomnia.

Collection

Collect before the flower stems develop.

Preparation

Juice

Mix equal parts of radish juice and honey.   Take 1 Tbsp.   three times per day.

 

Juice Cure

Start by taking 100 -120 ml. of juice before breakfast each day.   Gradually increase the amount to 1 liter a day.    After 3 weeks reduce back to 120 ml. until cured.

Growing Directions

Plant Radish seed in early spring, 1/2 inch deep and 6 inches apart.   They prefer rich, moist soil and full sun but will tolerate most soil conditions.   Water to 1 inch in depth once a week.
